In our English course at CART, we read Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park. This is a science fiction novel that takes place on an island off the coast of Costa Rica. The island is owned by a man named John Hammond, who has created a park exhibiting dinosaurs recreated from ancient preserved DNA. The book explores certain aspects of chaos theory, as the island descends into madness due to small errors in its infrastructure.
My essay took a further look into this, and explored the ways that the novel's characters influenced the course of events on the island. I also explored how characters' personal interactions affected and changed outcomes. We also connected the events occurring on the island back to real world scenarios, and looked at how these ideas could be used in real life.
